John Goldie
John Goldie is one of the UK's most prominent Jazz Guitarists. John started playing at the age of six, his first professional engagement being at 12 years of age.
After many years touring and recording as a sideman and session player, he decided to concentrate on jazz and solo guitar. In March 1993, French guitarist Marcel Dadi took a special interest in the relevant newcomers performance at the Frankfurt Music Fair and invited him to play at EXPO 93, the Issoudan Guitar Festival.
John has toured in duo format with Martin Taylor and Ike Isaacs and is currently a member of Taylor's group - Spirit of D'Jango. John has played every major Jazz Festival in the UK and Ireland, including a week at Ronnie Scott's in London. Aside from solo concerts, John has his own trio performing mainly original music. Recent trips to the USA have included performances at the 20th Century Guitar Show and solo concerts in New York.
John's CD "Turn and Twist" was recorded in 1997 with Ewen Vernal on bass and Jim Drummond on drums & percussion:
