These awards provide a fantastic opportunity to bring the strong and diverse mix of jazz talent that Scotland has, to the attention of the public and media.

Please add your details to our emailing list to make sure you keep up with any news about the awards as it comes in (see top right hand corner of this page).

The competition was judged by a "blind listening" panel of judges who listened to recorded music submitted by the entrants. The judges were not told who they were listening to. This method of judging ensures fairness for all and we are confident that they will be held in very high esteem by the winners and finalists.

There are a number of "runners up " in each category as well as "winners". The runners up will be able to use the SJA Runner Up logo on all their publicity and promotional material and websites to help raise their profile, and similarly the winners will be able to use the SJA Winner logo.

The award ceremony was hosted by the Glasgow Jazz Festival on:

Monday 22nd June 2009 at 7.30pm
Tron Theatre, Glasgow
